From 2012 to 2016, Liam was the chief technical director of the British government. Under his leadership, the government digital service created a function of Common Technology Services, which provided a range of services - from the Crown hosting service to the Digital Marketplace public services network and cost control and delivery functions. Its innovations have helped the government in the past four years to save 3.5 billion pounds sterling
